you do know of the media list on diglib - i dont remember the exact url but its like

The absence of many ftp servers on diglib/media list makes me think so. For example,
172.16.16.193
172.16.2.29
172.16.4.68
172.16.5.5
172.16.5.20
172.16.8.77
... and many more.
Hey, the list is generated dynamically. And prolly servers which have no data or to which you don't have public access, simply don't show up there.
All the six examples that I posted in the previous comment do provide public access and have data. And there are more.
May be I should contact Paresh Jain to get the exact details.
If its a dynamically generated list, then why are some servers marked as failure? If you say the servers that are marked as failure are the ones that are down, then why are their so less failure servers ?(iiit has more than 600 PC, of which only 25-35 are listed on diglib/media)
It SEEMS to me that there is a STATIC list of around 30 PCs which is scanned regularly. Out of those, the ones that are down are marked as failure and others marked as success.

Hey, that list is quite old and IPs keep changing in IIIT as you know. For the lastest list, checkout FTP++ at http://192.168.36.150/media/ftppp/
